Global Company Acts Locally: Gives Hope in the City
Vancouver, BC, Canada – PacNet Services, an international payment processing company based in Vancouver, BC, is an ardent supporter and annual sponsor of the Salvation Army’s Hope in the City Breakfast. Although the nature of PacNet’s day to day business keeps them in an international mind-set, their affection for their home town of Vancouver is demonstrated through their ongoing support of charitable campaigns that benefit the local community. The Salvation Army’s annual Hope in the City Breakfast marks the start of an extensive holiday fundraising campaign to help meet the ever present need of Vancouver’s less fortunate. Held Friday, December 4th at 7:30 am in the Grand Ballroom of the Hyatt Regency Hotel, the event also kicks off the Salvation Army’s signature Christmas Kettle Campaign.
Members of Vancouver’s corporate community take part in this annual event in order to lend support to the Salvation Army’s many programs that bring lasting change to the lives of so many in Vancouver and across Canada. The Salvation Army is the largest non-governmental provider of social services in Canada and serves over 400 communities across the country. This year alone, the Salvation Army applied the gifts received through Christmas kettles, Hope in the City and other events to provide: 6,300 beds for addiction, detox and mental health treatments, and emergency shelter for vulnerable individuals and families throughout Canada. They also served 2.1 million meals and assisted 994,000 persons with food, clothing or practical assistance.
Through offices in Canada and Ireland, PacNet Services enjoys working with clients on six continents. “I believe that our international awareness contributes to an even keener recognition and gratitude for all that we have here in Vancouver” says Renee Frappier, Marketing Director. “Vancouver is not only home to our global headquarters but it is home to our friends and family as well. I am proud to work for a company so committed to engaging with the community and building a brighter future for people who are less fortunate that we are”.
Vancouver is known throughout the world for its wealth of natural beauty. However, like any large city, Vancouver faces its share of problems. As part of the corporate community, PacNet’s management and staff are dedicated to lending their support to initiatives that invest in the future of marginalized and overlooked people in their community. Facing an uncertain future is never easy, but during the holidays ones troubles can be magnified, especially for those that are struggling.
